Qualifications For The Parent-Teacher
God doesn’t require a teaching certificate for parents, or even a diploma. He demands no previous experience, special gifts, or talents. But He does have His own school and training program. In God’s school, the parent-teacher must first become a “student,” “follower,” and an “obeyer”. God does not require perfection, but only a deliberate, conscious, step-by-step obedience to what He shows and teaches His students. The parent-teacher is not required to reach a certain level of competence in obedience before he begins to teach his children, but rather he must keep developing in obedience as he or she teaches. Learning and teaching are lifetime pursuits. No mother ever reaches a point where she may stop learning and devote herself totally to teaching. Learning and teaching go hand in hand.

My intention in posting this is to give you encouragement on your path for being a Homeschool-Mom. As we all know, it’s one of the most frustrating jobs but also one of the most rewarding jobs there is!
I was sharing with my husband a couple of weeks ago that I didn’t understand why I was so exhausted after teaching the boys. I was comparing myself to friends that teach in the private and public sector then it hit me! I am teaching “MY” children. They are teaching someone else’s children. As a mother we pour every fiber of our being into our children. We use spiritual, emotional, physical and mental energy to teach them and train them in the way they should go. It’s exhausting! We need HIM to strengthen us in our inner man so that we are well able to accomplish HIS plan in our families.

I’m a regular teacher and I can assure you, I am always exhausted after teaching. I think anyone passionate and sincere about their calling gives more.
